About Me

My photo
I am a wife to the most amazing husband (Eric) and a mother to 2 wonderful kids (Jessica and Evan). My family is my world. I have recently put my career as a medical assistant on hold to be a stay-at-home mom/wife. We want to raise kids with manners and still have a strong family, so I am always trying ideas to help make things easier on me (cleaning tips, organization, meal planning, crafts, etc.) I thought I would share them with everyone out there. So, please comment with your ideas, or if you have tried one posted on here (Did you like it?) I am always open to suggestions. I am also looking for money savers. It's my new passion now that there is only 1 income.

Bow Mania

Well we have been super busy here! Phew! Each year we do a big yard sale and this year's is a little more involved. I am also going to have a table of my bows and things. And of course I'm not just selling them on the 26th, but 2 days later I will have a booth at the local flea market selling bows there as well.

So with cleaning out closets and making bows, my time is tight. Oh yeah, and did I mention that the hubby as a broken ankle so I'm not only taking care of the kiddos (by myself) but also trying to take care of E so he isn't putting weight on his leg.

Anyways, here are my newest bows. You can see all of my bows or place a custom order at The Cloverpatch Bowtique

I have also started bow boards. I was sick of finding bows all over the house, so this is easy to clip them on and see which one you want to wear...

The Container Cupboard

So this isn't really a post of how to do something, it's more of a motivational one. Our container cupboard was down-right SCARY! I have been putting it off for some time now....ok, a looooong time now. But it was to the point where we couldn't find a lid to match anything, and to open the cupboard was risking your life.

Here is the before...

Scary, I know

So with the assistance of mini me, all pieces were removed from the cupboard and it was wiped down.

She's looking like, "Now what?"

Hey! There's my ice cubes holder! A lot of good it's doing in there!!!
While the inside of the cupboard was drying, we sorted things into piles. Jess got distracted with the cool popsicle holder/maker (who knew we had that!) but I dove right in to the pile of plastics.

Well these popsicle thingies are the coolest thing ever!

Large storage container pile

Large bowls and measuring thingies
Then, I went through the lids...the evil lids... After finding ones that had containers to match, I was left with a pile that had no partners... :(    They are now in the trash.
All lids that have a container to match

Non matching lids, AKA trash.
So after all was said and done, and Sleeping Beauty was almost awake, the cupboard was organized!

Look it's where it should be!

Homemade Carpet Shampoo

I know I haven't posted in a while, and there is a good reason for that. CRAZY BUSY FAMILY! I have been spring cleaning my butt off....well I wish my butt was smaller....anyways, back to the post.

I wanted to share with you all my homemade carpet shampoo. Shampoo in stores (even generic) is soooo expensive! I don't know about all of you, but our wallet is thin in this house. So here is a FANTASTIC recipe to get your carpets super clean!

First, I went through and spot treated any bad areas, and let me tell ya...there were a lot more than I thought (and we only have fish as pets, so use your imagination). People wearing their shoes in the house, and kids (ahem...and spouses) spilling God-knows-what, it was very polka-dotted....

Then, I added 1 Tbsp baking soda to the bottom of my container followed by 1/3 cup of vinegar.
Next, I added HOT water to the fill line.
Last, I added 1 Tbsp laundry detergent.

I have a standard carpet steamer:

This is what the shampoo sucked out of the carpets...it disgusts me! Needless to say, I did the carpets a second time. The 1st pic in this post is from the 2nd run.
